OVERVIEW OF THE TSUNAMI MEMORIAL KANYAKUMARI:
The Tsunami Memorial is a steel monument located in Kanyakumari Nagar, Tamil Nadu State, that stands around 16 feet tall. The two hands formed in this are restraining one wave of the ocean while keeping the lantern of hope lit. B Kanagraj is the creator of this design.
Meaning of Tsunami:
Tsunami, which meaning "marine hurricane," is a natural calamity. The tsunami is a Japanese word that combines sue and naami. Sue means sea, and naami means waves. When there is a sudden bustle in the ocean, it contains a brusten. Hundreds of kilometers in width approach the coast, and the bottoms of the waves begin to touch the earth. Its speed slows as its height increases. When it reaches the coast, a disaster ensues. Anything, including trees, woods, and buildings, is destroyed. These storms are frequently triggered by marine earthquakes.
History of Tsunami Memorial:
On December 26, 2004, the tsunami affected around 14 Indian Ocean countries. The Tsunami killed roughly 1 lakh 70 thousand people in Phuket, Indonesia, which was the most severely hit. This affected around 34 lakh people in India, including Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Pondicherry. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands have also been severely damaged. According to reports, approximately 15,000 people perished as a result of this burning feeling. Of these, 10,000 people lived alone on Tamil Nadu's seashore. A tsunami memorial has been built in memory of those killed by the tsunami in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu.
